CATHERINE YOUNG DANCE ... To move and be moved. To create powerful, physical, primal, visceral human work that touches, goes deep, transcends. To show the human condition in all its shades through the physicality of the human body, its grit, edge, truth, honesty, beauty. To have an energetic exchange with an audience. To allow the audience space to feel, think, be. Sweaty, raw, hungry, percussive, pulsating work. Connecting the inside with the outside.

Having graduated from Academy of Arts in Croatia on drama department of Acting and Puppetry. I moved to Serbia to graduate on Master of Acting on Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. I started working in this field in both countries and I achieved roles in theatres, feature films, TV series and commercials. I have expanded my field of activity to theater directing and the creating of socially engaged projects through theater. Through my researching period and trough working with actors, as a director I started to create my own method of acting process based on my previous knowledge to which I have implemented elements of Applied theatre, Forum theatre, Chorus method and psychodrama elements. As a leader of workshops I have experience of working with professional actors, with amateurs, young and adults. I have created a several theatre projects for audience development and gained experience in creative and researching work process with non-actors. I am a lively, communicative person who is eager to progress in her career.

The Gaiety School of Acting – The National Theatre School of Ireland is a Not for Profit organisation founded in 1986 by the internationally renowned theatre director Joe Dowling, in response to the lack of full time actor training programmes in Ireland at that time. The School is now widely regarded as the country’s premier training facility for actors. Our policy is to train actors for theatre, film and television. The School has a broad offering; ranging from its two-year full time intensive actor training, adult One Year Part Time training, adult 10 week courses, weekend workshops to its successful Young Gaiety Drama classes for under 18s. The School also hosts a range of courses for international students delivered both in conjunction with US partner organisations and available for solo applicants. Its broad community and outreach scheme includes a highly successful Shakespeare in Schools programme for Leaving Cert students. In addition, the School provides a robust Corporate training facility with programmes specialising in Communication Skills, Leadership, Team Building and Brand Management.
