Ofri Cnaani: Accidental Triggers
Triskel Gallery Space
Ofri Cnaani explores the omnipresence of the digital in everyday life. Her practice takes the form of performances, prints, films, and events, carried out both on location and online.
This exhibition features two films whose audio combines ambient noise recordings and a whispering voice, and visual elements of touching materials. The exhibition also includes metadata texts sourced from user discussion boards and videos on digital platforms like YouTube. In all of these works, Cnaani examines our reliance on algorithms as related to data generation, collection, archiving, and monetization, and the inevitable accompanying questions of control and extraction.
Ofri Cnaani is based in Tel Aviv–Yafo, Israel. She studied at Beit Berl College, Israel; Hunter College, City University of New York; and Goldsmiths, University of London. She has presented her work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Tate Britain, London; USC Fisher Museum of Art, Los Angeles; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; and beyond.
