The Green Arts Initiative in Ireland concluded the Greening Arts Centres Project on Tuesday 26th of April 2022 with a final group zoom session for participants.

Looking to a Greener Future for the Irish Arts Sector –
How artists and arts organisations are acting on climate change.

The session included contributions from the following:

Brian Fenton, Producer with Druid discussed the work they’ve been doing to reduce the carbon footprint of their touring. Drawing on analysis from 2019 touring productions, Druid have looked at how they can address future emissions from this part of their activities, along with energy efficiency at the company’s base in Flood Street in Galway.

Dance artist and choreographer, Ruairí O’Donnabháin is passionate about climate action. During his contribution, he addressed aesthetic practices of care, working with the ‘more than human’ as well as touching on habitability and the islands.

New developments taking place in the intersection between arts and climate action nationally and further afield were also discussed.
