Projects Developed at make
Since the first MAKE in 2009, 100+ Irish and international artists have been MAKE residents.
Emma O’Grady (MAKE 2016) What Good is Looking Well When You’re Rotten On the Inside? premiered at Galway Theatre Festival in 2017.
Louise White’s (MAKE 2016) This is the Funeral of Your Life premiered at Project Arts Centre in November 2017.
Conor Clancy and Hanan Sheedy’s SLSD premiered at Cork Midsummer Festival in 2017. Breffni Holahan and Claire O’Reilly (Malaprop Theatre) Everything Not Saved premiered at Project Arts Centre as part of Dublin Fringe Festival 2017 (winner of Spirit of Fringe Spirit of Project Award 2015).
Fiona McGeown attended MAKE 2016, with her new production Freaks, Degenerates and Unsexed Females premiered at Cork Midsummer Festival 2017.
Deirdre Dwyer, Eadaoin O’Donoghue and Rosie O’Regan worked together as part of MAKE 2016, premiering Dark Kingdom at Cork Midsummer Festival 2016.
Doireann Cody worked on I’m Not Here at MAKE 2015 presented as part of Dublin Theatre Festival work in progress series, invited to PuSh International Performing Arts Festival (Vancouver) and High Performance Rodeo (Calgary), 2018.
Peter Power of Eat My Noise, Evan Lordan and Gavin McEntee of Conflicted Theatre worked together on Neon Western at MAKE 2015 which was presented as work in progress at Cork Midsummer Festival 2016, premiered at CM F 2017 and toured to Dublin Fringe 2017.
Maud Ní Riordáin and Zoe Ní Riordáin developed Recovery at MAKE 2015 which was presented in Project Arts Centre in April 2016.
Aoife McAtamney worked on Chora at MAKE 2015 which premiered at Dublin Fringe Festival 2016 as The Age of Transition.
Louise White’s Way Back Home was developed at MAKE 2013 and went on to win the ‘Spirit of the Fringe’ Commissioning Award at Dublin Fringe Festival 2013.
Bush Moukarzel’s Lippy was premiered at Dublin Fringe Festival 2013, it went on to win Best Production at both the Dublin Fringe and Irish Times Theatre Awards.
Stefanie Preissner worked on Solpadine is my Boyfriend at MAKE 2012 which went on to premiere at Absolut Fringe 2012 and was nominated for Bewley’s Little Gem Award and The Fishamble New Writing Award. It was subsequently part of the First Fortnight festival 2013 and toured to venues around Ireland, Romania and Australia.
Martin Sharry worked on I Am Martin Sharry at MAKE 2012 which went on to be performed at Absolut Fringe 2012 as part of the West Coast Cool strand of the Festival.
Shane Byrne worked on Hungry Tender at MAKE 2012 which went on to premiere at Absolut Fringe 2012.
Una McKevitt worked on Victor & Gord at MAKE 2009 which went on to premiere at Absolut Fringe 2009, and play at Project Arts Centre and 565+ at MAKE 2010 which premiered at Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival.
Wayne Jordan a Director who has since gone on to make his Abbey Stage main stage debut with Christ Deliver Us and The Plough and the Stars worked on Ellamenope Jones in 2009 which was staged Project Arts Centre in December 2010.
Tom Creed‘s Berlin Love Tour premiered in Absolut Fringe 2010 and was subsequently nominated for an Irish Times Theatre Award and has been presented at Cork Midsummer Festival and Fierce Festival 2012.
Grace Dyas, co-artistic director of THEATREclub, worked on Heroin in 2009. This was premiered at Absolut Fringe 2010, and won the ‘Spirit of the Fringe’ Commissioning Award for work that is ‘fresh, brave and exciting’. It has enjoyed several tours and recently was programmed at the Abbey Theatre on the Peacock stage as part of THEATREclub’s Triology.
Ruairí Donovan’s Witches premiered at Cork Midsummer Festival 2013.
